In keeping with our METHOD of Diagnosis, Treatment,
Rehabilitation and Wellness, we offer services in each area. DIAGNOSIS- Complete Physical Examination:
A doctor will perform a complete examination on your first visit, and then as needed. This will include all standard medical
exam procedures as well as orthopedic, neurological, and biomechanical testing.
- On Site X-ray: X-rays may be indicated in order to determine
the cause of your problem. If so, we do them on-site. Our staff is licensed by the state to perform x-rays. If there is any
question about a finding on your x-rays they will be sent to a Board Certified Radiologist for interpretation. The x-rays
are usually ready on your first visit. If you require advanced testing such as MRI, CT or Bone Scan, you will be referred
to an outside facility.
- Bone Density Screening: Many
individuals with back problems are also prone to osteoporosis or osteopenia. We have equipment on site to screen for these
problems to make certain that you are treated appropriately.
- Laboratory
Testing: If blood tests are necessary to finding the cause of your problem, the blood can be drawn at
our office and sent to the laboratory for testing. These test results are always shared with your family doctor or specialist.
- Electrodiagnostic Testing: Dr. Hollstrom, II is certified
to perform these tests, which include EMG, NCV, SSEP, etc.
 TREATMENT
- Spinal
Manipulation: Our doctors are hands-on practitioners and use safe and gentle techniques. In addition to
a diversified approach, the
doctors also perform drop table adjustments, soft tissue work and flexion-distraction. Extremity techniques are
used for ankles, feet, knees and hips, shoulders, elbows and wrists.
Cox®
Distraction-Axial Decompression: A state-of-the-art technique similar to other axial decompression that
is widely advertised. Cox allows the doctor to be much more specific and to manually control the distraction. It is very effective
to treat disc herniation, spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis.
Physical
Therapy Modalities: These may include any of a combination of electrical, interferential or galvanic stimulation,
traction, ultrasound and ultrasound with stimulation. These allow us to decrease muscle spasm, increase circulation and speed
healing without drugs or surgery.
Home Care Techniques:
You will be instructed in the proper use of heat and ice. You may be given a support or brace if indicated. Specific exercises
or stretching and supplies such as support pillows or shoe Orthotics may be provided. REHABILITATION
- Specific Exercise: Each patient has individual needs and weaknesses that allowed the problem
to occur. Stretching and exercise is frequently the best way to strengthen an area to prevent reinjury. We have
an on-site rehab exercise area for exercise instruction and supervised activities.
- Ergonomic
Instruction: We frequently find that poor posture and work habits are the underlying cause of your current
problem. We will help you to identify what those habits are and show you how to correct them to help to prevent reinjury.
- Nutritional Advice and Supplementation: May be necessary
to help you to recover and to stay healthy. Our doctors will offer this advice.
- Orthotics:
Many back problems are caused by poor foot biomechanics, short leg syndromes, etc. Many times individualized foot supports
can make a big difference in the stabilization of the foot and the whole support structure of the spine. Support pillows to
promote proper spinal alignment while sleeping are very helpful to many people.
WELLNESS
- Wellness: is individual and should not be just the same
program for everyone. Your family health history is important to making decisions about your needs. Our doctors can help you
with:
- Exercise/Walking Programs: Need to learn how
to do your exercises correctly, or which ones will help you most? We can help.
- Nutrition/Dietary
Advice: Chiropractic doctors have extensive backgrounds in nutrition and our doctors can help you devise
a program that is best for you, with your health problems and your family history.
- Lifestyle:
